About

Brian Jacobs began his art education studying among a diverse population of working artists at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio before transferring to Ohio University where he graduated with a BFA in Printmaking. He earned an MA in Painting at Kent State University in 1999 and is currently finishing his studies at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He will graduate with an MFA in Painting in 2013.

For over twenty-five years, Jacobs has worked in a semi-abstract style, combining accurate drawing with expressive form and non-traditional technique. In his recent paintings, he has turned loose marks of gritty pigment into very reduced but unmistakable representations of people.

Jacobs has actively exhibited his work in Cleveland, Ohio where he has also taught adults and children at the Solon Center for the Arts and the Valley Art Center. He has had solo exhibitions at Kent State University and the University of Washington. He currently resides in New York State.
